It has been a month since I have posted and I am not sure where the time went. I haven't been stitching much at all and so ready for my stitch bug to kick into high gear with Maynia.

My friend Nessie hosts a retreat at Lake Cumberland, here in KY, each year and this was my third year going. I had to use most of my time off for my surgery so I couldn't take off work on Thursday and Friday but it is fairly close to me so I went on Saturday. It was great fun seeing stitchers that I haven't seen since last year, meeting new ones that came for the first time, good food, much laughter and a bit of shopping and stitching.
It looks like rain here today and according to the weather, rain is in our forecast for the next two weeks. But that means spring!

Early Americans-Little House Needleworks

I didn't stitch on this as much as I had hoped to because I started a new project.

I had been looking for the Queene Besse Chess Board by Leon Conrad and did not find it, so I purchased another one that I really liked. I love blackwork and this project was so much fun to stitch on.

ChessBoard-Blackwork Journey

I am stitching this on Galen 28 count linen by Under the Sea Fabrics. It was the February Fabric of the Month. I am using DMC Perle #12 in 310 for the stitched border and regular DMC 310 for the blackwork inside each square. It also called for a metallic of some kind to be added in some blocks and I have purchased a rust colored petite treasure braid to use.

It will look like this when finished.
Haul

I am so excited that I was able to find Medieval Majesty by Leon Conrad. I paid more for it than I normally would a pattern, but it is a very nice 50 page book with very detailed instructions for each section. I can't wait to get started on this but will be a little bit as I decide on fabric.
I saw a post on facebook from a stitcher that had closed her stitch shop and was going to be traveling with items for sale through my area so she came by our monthly stitch group meeting this past Saturday. Here is what I got.
I just started watching two new ones and they are sisters. They work on great projects and are very entertaining, so I wanted to share their first videos with you all in case you haven't seen them yet. I always have to start with the first video of any new flosstuber I watch to make sure I don't miss anything. Do you do that?
I have a rather large one with wheels. I purchased this right before I had my knee replacement surgery so that it could sit by my chair and I wouldn't have to worry about trying to get up and gather things, it was all right beside me. I thought it was time to go through it and clean up and organize a bit. I did organize and take some things out as I just became so overwhelmed by how many projects I have started. Do you ever get that way?

I think that maybe I am ready for spring cleaning and I was just a big disgusted with just how many there are. Today I don't feel quite as overwhelmed and disgusted but still realize I have to do something and get these things finished. Oh and I should mention that this list of wips aren't all that I have. There are many more in totes that I need to go through. I plan to do that soon so I can get an accurate list of wips, kits, and patterns that I have.

I thought I would share the wips that were in my basket.

Basket of Cherries-Blackbird Designs
Needles and Pins-Theron Traditions
Kings and Queens of England-Bothy Threads
Mary-Mill Hill kit
No Place Like Home-Wizard of Oz pattern from a magazine
Americana Series-Little House Needleworks
Man of the Month-Amy Brueken
Stained Glass Elsa-SR Designs
London-Thea Gouveneur
Brooks Books Advent Animals Ornaments
Europe Landmark Buildings
Joseph-Mill Hill kit
Golden Ice-Kustom Krafts
New England School Girl Sampler-Theron Traditions
Florin-Ink Circles
Fire and Ice-Kustom Krafts
Let Freedom Ring-Lilas' Studio
Charles Stocking-Shepherds Bush
One Nation-Bygone Stitches
George Crossing the Delaware project
Laura Plantation-Leslie Wisters
Giant Harry Potter-Clouds Factory
Esther Copp Sampler-Bucilla
Henry VIII-Heaven and Earth Designs
Love Never Fails-Barbara Ana
Alphabet-Prairie Schooler
Save the Stitches-Blackwork Journey

I thought that I had about 40 wips but in looking at this list and thinking about others that I know of, I think the number is well over 40. I am thinking perhaps I need to try to work on one at a time and then have George Crossing the Delaware project going as well. I just get so excited about the kitting up process and the starting and then it is laid down and on to others and the whole process starts again. So, I am wondering how many wips do you have?
A trade show for designers and shops and it is horrible they won't let the normal stitcher come in to shop! I have a good friend that has an online store and she does a retreat the weekend of market. The retreat is at a hotel down the street from where the market is being held and stitchers sit and talk, eat, stitch, and all that fun stuff. But Katrina goes to the market and shops and brings back items from market and you can see them and place your order and she will go back and purchase for you and you can have them the weekend of market, without having to wait. It is great fun and unfortunately I will not be able to attend this year. However, I will be giving her a list of what I want to purchase. I bring this up as I am wondering if you all have seen the preview of items yet?

You can see them here.

If you don't have a local LNS or not sure where to purchase, contact Katrina with a list and she will purchase, invoice, and ship out quickly. You can click on her name to go to her site and her email is listed there.
It is nice to finally see some sun and no rain here in Ky. We had a lot of rain the past week and storms over the weekend, tornadoes in some places. There is quite a bit of flooding as well. I worked a little bit on the Early Americans series, the Martha Washington square but I forgot to take an updated picture. I also started on the George project but only about 200 stitches, so I will update with that next week when I have more done. Then, I had a start and a finish! I am a BAP girl but I really liked stitching something much smaller and getting a finish so quickly. I think I am going to finish it as a no sew cube but can't decide. Any suggestions?
It seems very early to be saying that but I hope everyone get in a little celebration today as we get the start of the Easter season going.

I started a new project. What a shocker! I bought a pattern of Elsa and one of Anna from Frozen to do for my nieces and I decided to start them, in hopes of having them both finished by Christmas. It is a beautiful stained glass look but the confetti is killing me. I must start looking at patterns closer before I purchase. I don't have much done but pretty decent for only a few days work.

I decided to pull out the Early Americans series on Thursday. I had to rip a good portion out of the Betsy Ross square and then I stitched on this project all weekend. I know I put it in time out due to having to rip out but I wish I had done it at the time and continued to work on it, as I love this project. It is my goal to continue working on this until I finish or feel like I need to rotate. I have discovered that I started it too far over on the fabric and I am going to be close to the right edge but it is just going to have to work.
I purchased the Mirabilia in January and the Plum Street in February. I really want to start the Plum Street Sampler one soon but I still need fabric for it. I was enabled by a flosstuber!
It is a brisk 21 this morning and a few flurries were falling as I walked into work. I am hoping we don't have bad weather at the end of the week as my monthly stitch group is set to meet on Saturday. We haven't met since December as January date had snow.

I stitched quite a bit this week.

I have just about decided that I will work on Henry, one other project, and an ornament as my rotation. I will add in the Man a Month SAL and the new Farmhouse Series by Little House as they come out. I want to be able to get several finished this year and I think maybe this will allow me to. I would love to finish Henry this year as well. What are you working on this week?
I am, especially when it is from Little House Needleworks. I am sure that you all have seen the new series entitled Farmhouse Christmas. I have the first pattern on order and need to look through my fabric to see if I have anything that works. Would anyone like to join me in a SAL? I most likely will not start it until the middle/end of February.
I did a lot of stitches this weekend.

I worked on Henry VIII-HAED
I have skipped around a little bit as I need to get a few threads. It is starting to get confetti heavy but I can't wait to be able to see the picture come to life.
I am doing a Man of the Month SAL-Amy Bruecken
This is so cute! I saw it finished at a retreat I went to last year and just got it this past Thursday and had to start it right away. I am determined to stay caught up on so that it will be finished in December.

I signed up for Stitch from Stash this year and I have a budget of $25 a month. This month I spend 32.55 but I had 7.00 credit for a finish on Dog Rules for People so that makes me only in the hole for 55 cents for January! I am pretty proud as I was afraid it would be much worse.
We are getting snow flurries today and I have heard the Big One will be here by the weekend. I have joined an event on Stitch Maynia where you start a new project on the 18th of each month. This was my start for January 18 and it is just barely a start.
Henry VIII-Heaven and Earth Designs
I am participating in an event called Stitchathon on the facebook group Cross Stitch Finish Line. Two weekends a month are designated as Stitchathons and you post a picture on Friday of your starting point, stitch as much as you can, and then post a picture of what you accomplished on Monday morning. Every 500 stitches gets you an entry into a drawing to win a gift card at the end of the year. I was able to get 1000 stitches done on Henry. It was pretty easy to get that many done as it was mostly just two colors. However, I am getting to a point of lots of confetti.
Love Never Fails-Barbara Ana
I picked up a couple of threads that I needed for this on Saturday and stitched the heart portion around the words. I had to rip out some and restitch and there is a small amount on the right side that isn't correct that I need to rip out as well. I didn't have good luck with this one over the weekend.
I went to Hobby Lobby on Saturday to get thread and saw this kit. I have had this pattern on my wish list and with their weekly 40% off coupon, it was only 19 for the whole kit so I couldn't pass it up.
Ok..so you are probably wondering what the heck is a Cross Stitch Crush. I am talking about other stitchers or flosstubers that you just love the projects they work on. For me, it is Nicole of Nicole's Needleworks. I LOVE everything she works on and I feel like I need it all. Also, Stephanie of MsOhSewCrafty. You can click on their names to check out their blogs and they both are flosstubers with the same name. If you haven't watched them or read their blogs, you should go check them out.
Who is your cross stitch crush?
I hope you are staying warm. It is cold here and we have a small amount of snow on the ground from Friday. We are supposed to get around 3 inches tonight and tomorrow and I really like snow, but I hope we don't get it so I am able to get to work. I told my husband yesterday that I am now ready to move to Florida!!

I purchased this stamped wall quilt from Herrschners for only $6 and I wish I had gotten a couple of more to do for gifts. It was a fun and quick stitch. I still have to quilt it.

I want to first apologize for my long absence. I had knee replacement surgery on October 31 and then had to have another small procedure on the same knee about six weeks after, so it has been a long couple of months in recovering, physical therapy, and just getting back to myself. I have missed you all terribly and didn't aim to be gone from the blog while I was recuperating but life just happened and I just didn't get many things done that I planned to do during this time.

I hope that you all had great holidays and are all ready for 2018 to be fabulous. I am sure you have gotten so much stitching done! I did do some, not as much as I had planned but I did get a couple of things finished and maybe more than a couple of things started. Today is my first day back at work so I am in the process of getting acclimated to real life again but I will have the finishes and starts posted really soon-hopefully this weekend. And then we can all get back to our normal fun of stitching and sharing!

I sure can't. This year is flying by and I am getting the urge to start planning what I will start next year. Do any of you make plans for the next year and start kitting?

I feel like I haven't stitched much this week but I really have gotten quite a bit done.

Christmas Pickle by Mill Hill
I started this on Thursday and finished it Saturday. I think this is so cute and I am planning to stitch a few more on fabric for gifts.

I worked on Henry VIII for the other amounts of time that I was able to stitch this week. I was able to get the first long column of page two done and started the second column of page two. There were a couple of threads that I needed to fill in the empty space on page one that you see in the picture. I now have those threads and am filling in that area before moving on any further with the second page.

I am going to a retreat in Bowling Green, Ky on Friday and Saturday so hopefully I will be able to put in quite a few stitches then. If you are ever interested in retreats, you should check out Katrina. She has them all over and she is open to coming to your area if you request one.

Have a great week filled with lots of stitches!Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15762611106035658223noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6586581643584433947.post-827286962602767632017-10-20T10:44:00.000-04:002017-10-20T10:44:10.755-04:00GiftsI haven't had much stitching time so no update until next week on those projects. I have always said stitch friends are the best to have and I am singing their praises this week as I received gifts from friends. I am so thankful and blessed.
My friend Mandy gave me a birthday gift.

I am getting closer to a page finish on Henry but confetti is starting so it is a little slower now.

I started this one a good while ago and haven't worked on it in quite some time. I have to rip out the blue line, as it is supposed to be red and will do that this week. I finished Mississipi and Illinois and the portion of the red line above those.

I started a couple of new things.

I love the Wizard of Oz and this pattern was in a magazine, the Cross Stitcher issue 281.

I also started Fire and Ice. I have had this pattern for several years and it will be a gift for my husband. I have the companion piece called Golden Ice but haven't started it yet.

I am trying hard not to purchase anything right now. I will be having a total knee replacement on October 31 and will be off work for about 12 weeks so I need to not make any purchases.

However, I have wanted one of these lap/table stands since I saw it and since my birthday is coming up, I got one. They are made by Michael Hope and his wife Bonnie is on several facebook groups that I am a member of and that is where I saw it. I can't sing its praises enough as it is fantastic and the best gadget I have purchased in quite some time.
